The A&R Deptartment Feature Dos Hell
Four piece Brisbane outfit Dos Hell are bringing a fresh wave of indie pop/rock and roll with the release of their new EP titled ‘In Stereo’ available now through iTunes.
You’ll be bouncing off the walls with their new mixture of classic 50s and 60s rock’n’roll and raw, energetic sound. Influenced by The Monkees, Buddy Holly, The Kinks and others of the 50's and 60's era; Dos Hell takes indie pop to a whole new level. The first single from the EP, titled “Pretty Girls” is an explosively pounding number, filled with jangly lo-fi guitars and pulsating drums, ensuring you will lose your voice over the catchy anthemic chorus.
Dos Hell were formed in 2006 through a series of circumstances involving a recording studio for people with disabilities, old friends and online ads. The band started out as a 3-chord writing exercise between Jeremy Ruckels and Marlon Hickey and when Danny Mothershaw and Leon Hill came on board, musical osmosis took place. Dos Hell's debut EP "In Stereo" was produced by Mikey Young (Eddy CurrentSuppression Ring) and music industry heavyweight Matt O'Connor. The EP was mastered by the legendary multi ARIA award winner Don Bartley, whose credits include You Am I, Icehouse and The Beatles.

After years of toiling in the pub scene, Melbourne singer / songwriter Broni gave himself some wise advice: “Don’t sell yourself short – take a chance and be free”. That mantra would become a part of “You Can Dance at any Age”, the latest single off Broni’s debut solo album “Every thought I’ve had since I was 10”. It features tales of love and love lost, of hopes, dreams and aspirations. With influences ranging from Ray Lamontagne and Bernard Fanning to Death Cab for Cutie, Broni has used his time on stage and in the studio to fine-tune his craft. He has played alongside Australian artists such as Bob Evans and Ella Hooper (Killing Heidi), and was invited to perform at the 2008 Falls Festival. Last year saw Broni playing shows around the world, including a month long stint in California. Broni has returned home to begin his second studio album. “Every thought I’ve had since I was 10” is available nationwide at record stores, Waterfront Records and Fist2Face through Psycho Janitor Records, and online through iTunes. |
After three EPs, extensive gigging and interstate touring, Sydney four-piece Found At Sea are gearing up to release their debut full length album Lumičres in June 2010. Recorded and mixed by ARIA winning producer Paul McKercher (Augie March, Sarah Blasko, You Am I, Midnight Oil), Lumičres is a diverse blend of indie mood pop, drawing from the influences of Bluebottle Kiss, Neil Young, Bright Eyes, Death Cab for Cutie and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. “Strangers in the backyard” is the first single supporting the release of Lumičres. Lead vocalist Ryan Linnegar takes the listener on a nostalgic journey, swinging between extremes of emotional intensity to bring you a tale of melancholy and angst. Formed in 2004, the band have spent the last 6 years honing their songwriting and live performance skills, garnering critical praise along the way. The band will embark on their ‘Winter Lights’ promotional tour in July to promote the album, playing in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Newcastle. |
Melbourne raconteur Cam Ewart has been writing songs for over ten years, and playing the live circuit since he was 17. Having been "thrown in the deep end" and supporting acts including Don Walker (Cold Chisel) and The Drones as his first solo outings, Cam has gone on to lend support to Darren Hanlon, Mick Thomas, Mike Noga, The Pictures, The Gin Club and Wagons. As a writer (he has written two novels), his musical stories combine blues, country and rock, all served on acoustic & electric guitars through a vintage Yamaha quadbox. With friend & drummer Bowie on board, a typical set sees a mix of stripped bare solo songs that reach out and tell a story, to a powerful two man attack that shows Cam's background fronting Melbourne rock band First Time Hookers. Cam has just finished his debut solo album "Here Comes the Blood". |
In February of 2010 Israel Cannan left home to travel around Australia... Promoting an album in which he wrote, engineered and played all the instruments on. Handing out singles from the album to people on the streets, Israel has not only captured the heartsof people everywhere he has travelled, but has also had the chance to find guidance from some of the Australian music industry’s colourful and iconic characters... Allan Pigrim (The Pigrim brother'), Shane Howard (Goanna), and Angry Anderson just to name a few. "I didn't want to take a ticket and wait in line... There is a whole world of people out there that will connect with what I do, I just have to find them..." Israel’s 3-track single “Walk” is a taste of his debut album, to be released in August 2010.
